Silence of Snow & SCA

This past weekend brought more snow and our first power outage of this year’s snow season. Even though it was only out for a short time, the silence inside a modern house is impressive. The fridge, the furnace, all of the background noise that we have become accustomed to is gone. With the snow comes a deadening of outdoor sounds as well; no leaves, no birds, just the crunch of frozen footprints.
Is it any wonder that we are anxious when we so infrequently have real silence?

Last week I was excited to learn that I had been elected to the Society of Canadian Artists. I was very honoured and now have the privilege of adding “S.C.A.” to the end of my name. I look forward to being in good company and learning from those with long and distinguished careers. The process has allowed me to see my work through the eyes of others and I found that to be both inspiring and as a challenge to continue to grow and develop.

Heather – yes actually – I can use the S.C.A. letters after my name. So I’ll use it for formal correspondence, I guess. I am still awaiting my welcome package, the news is so fresh!
