I finally got myself together to start the Heal House bathroom. This is the work in progress. I am aiming to have it complete early next week.

The struggles of my most recent work have been weighing heavily on my mind. I am hoping my return to this subject matter will open things up again. The pressure of preparing for McMichael has both its advantages and drawbacks. I do need a deadline. It improves my discipline. However, it is easy to get oneself on a schedule and start seeing everything as if it were on an assembly line. I can forget what drives me while my left brain starts making lists!

Painting is one profession where thinking too far ahead (*read* beyond the painting in front of me) can be detrimental. Sometimes a necessary pause opens the way for a particular painting that can command my full attention. That is when no other painting, past or future, can enter my consciousness. Those are the ones that matter and the ones that must be painted. It should come as absolutely no surprise that the best stuff comes from complete presence. A few of those will always be better than lots off an assembly line.

So for now, I must forget the list…. and stay in the bathroom!

something I have noticed from looking at photos of abandoned buildings is that the sinks are usually smashed. Its odd. Want to say to some people yes you have killed the sink beast it will never hurt any ones hands again… :p

the light focusing on the sink is a nice touch. your eye goes to the sink first as it is, but the light helps draw the eye there

I agree, forget the list and stay in the bathroom! :0)
I find deadlines make me much more conscious of what I’m doing…and helps me decide what is most important!

Some things require our full concentration to the end…others not so much!

    Cheers

It’s always so exciting when you share a work in progress. I love to see the bare bones beneath; how you work and what goes in first. Can’t wait for the finish.

Your site was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.

    I’m Out! :)
