Thought of you when I saw this. Something about nature being so powerful as to reclaim suburbs. If only it would happen more.

You bring back old memories for with this. Especially the general store. Those stores gave a kid in the 70's an experience that harkened back to an even earlier era. I don't know if cottage life is still like that, with the little general stores still being like a mom & pop shop from the 1950's.

Reminds me of August in S. Ontario (except yours certainly goes by faster.) August is "hell month" for me now, typically. This is one of my "indoors" months, much like Winter was for me in Canada. I still come out ahead, though, which makes it worthwhile.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts & memories. Speaking of fish stories, until I was straightened out on the issue yesterday, I grew up believing (thanks to mom,) that catfish whiskers were like stinging jellyfish tentacles. It's funny how we accept things as truth from our parents w/o question, but then again, why would we do elsewise?

a lot more Loons (of the avian kind) lol sad but true. Ever year we went up north it seemed like the bird population was getting smaller and smaller.

we never spent that much time on the water, lots of time walking around the trails and playing in the snow in winter. I will have to see if mom remembers where we use to go because I can't remember at all....
